 | A second winter of extreme temperatures has torn up roads throughout the Northeast. | Courtesy of Wikipedia | The constant freezing and thawing Ohio roads have endured this winter has left most cities in Northeast Ohio with serious pothole problems.
Akron is looking to find new ways to address and prevent them.
City Council passed a resolution this week urging the administration to search for new technology. Councilman Jeff Fusco says the city wants to find innovative methods to extend the life of its roads. |

“Our Public Works Department has discovered that there is a possibility for some technology out there where asphalt could possibly have a de-icing agent incorporated within the pavement that would reduce the need for salt and increase safety on our roadways.”
Fusco says the city typically sets aside $2 million for street repairs but has increased the amount to $3.3 million for 2015. |
