The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is now hosting an exhibit on the life and career of Paul Simon – with major input from the artist himself. WKSU’s Kabir Bhatia reports.

“Paul Simon: Words & Music” is arranged as a first-person narrative, and features more than 80 artifacts from his career.

There’s Simon’s first guitar, handwritten lyrics for “The Boxer” and even a letter a teenaged Simon wrote to Art Garfunkel. There’s also stills from his 1980 film, “One Trick Pony,” which was partially filmed in Cleveland, and a photo from Simon & Garfunkel’s first TV appearance under their own names – on Channel 5’s “Upbeat” show in 1967.

It’s the first major exhibit under the Rock Hall’s new VP of Collections, Karen Herman, and featured major input from and collaboration with Simon himself.

Paul Simon was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as half of Simon & Garfunkel in 1990, and then as a solo artist in 2001. For a list of the artifacts on display, click here.
