Lincoln Electric competes with 19th century values intact
Canadian author examines no layoff policy
by WKSU's JEFF ST. CLAIR

Reporter / Host
Jeff St. Clair

A prominent Cleveland company, founded 115 years ago, is famous for retaining its 19th century values. Lincoln Electric, one of the world leaders in welding technology, operates by the Golden Rule - promising workers permanent employment and a generous share of the profits regardless of economic upheavals. Canadian journalist Frank Koller examines Lincoln Electric's Guaranteed Employment Program in his new book Spark - How Old Fashioned Values Drive a Twenty First Century Corporation.
