Their proposal would also give major backers of the initiative exclusive rights to operate 10 designated marijuana growing zones, including in Hudson, Lorain, and Alliance. In anticipation of that, the organization is pitching the initiative as a source of good-paying jobs. WKSU’s Tim Rudell reports. |

During news conference at the Laborers unionuall in Akron, ResponsibleOhio’s Ian James said he expects the amendment to pass, and invited the union to organize the company’s workers if it does.
“Three hundred workers are going to be able to work with an average salary of $25 an hour; to work with United Food & Commercial Workers, our partners, to be organized and represented here. It’s very clear you’ve got a management and labor willing to work together to improve the quality of life in Summit County and northeast Ohio..”
The union supports ResponsibleOhio’s amendment proposal. It has more than 2,200 members, mostly in northern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. |
