The Ohio Supreme Court has decided that property owners can submit their own appraisals during disputes with the state.

Attorney Steve Dimengo helped argue the case, and says the unanimous ruling clears up ambiguity in a law allowing Ohio’s tax commissioner to reject appraisals before the Board of Tax Appeals looks at them. That’s the board that hears disputes between Ohioans and the tax commissioner when they disagree on the taxable value of property.
