The Ohio House has passed a controversial payday-loan bill meant to close loopholes those lenders use to charge high interest rates. The vote occured as a reported probe into activities involving the former Speaker and payday lending lobbyists continues.

Republican Kyle Koehler says passage of the bill will help many Ohioans who tell him the interest they pay on their payday loans is so high that they can’t afford basics like groceries.

A new bill in the Ohio Legislature would let city residents without access to fresh foods raise small animals for food. Statehouse correspondent Jo Ingles reports some lawmakers think it’s in bad taste.

A new bill in the Ohio Senate would put limits on when motorists can run a red light -- meaning it would no longer apply to mosts motorists at all.

H.B. 9 is a response to a law passed late last year, which would allow anyone to treat a red light like a stop sign if it appears to be malfunctioning, or doesn’t seem to be sensing the presence of a vehicle.
