Playhouse Square’s “Advancing the Legacy” campaign exceeded its $100 million goal expectation.The performing arts organization announced last week raised $110 million over the past five years.

Art Falco is the retired CEO of Playhouse Square who now serves as a senior advisor. He said organization is grateful to community members who recognize how important the theater district is.

The BorderLight International Theatre and Fringe Festival opens this week and will bring more than 100 artists and 40 productions to downtown Cleveland.

Playhouse Square Will Add to Cleveland's Skyline

A Cleveland non-profit announced it will break ground this fall on a new addition in Playhouse Square.

The Playhouse Square Foundation plans to spend $135 million dollars to build a 34-story apartment complex.

The foundation’s Vice President for Strategic Development, Allen Wiant, says the project enhances their vision for the theater district.

They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway, but they’re shining along Euclid Avenue, too, as the curtain lifts this weekend on “Broadway in Cleveland.”

In today’s State of the Arts, WKSU’s Vivian Goodman sits down with Playhouse Square’s executive producer for a preview.

The drum roll leading up to Christmas will have a jazzy beat this weekend. Traditional Christmas classics will get a hip twist from the region’s jazz musicians and visitors, too. 

As WKSU’s Vivian Goodman reports, those well-known tunes provide an easy introduction to what some consider a difficult art form.

  The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra’s Jack Schantz is glad Christmas time is here, for musical reasons. The trumpeter and flugelhornist looks forward to performances at this time of year with band leader, Paul Ferguson.
