The Cavs officially introduced John Beilein from the University of Michigan as their coach on Tuesday. His main goal will be to help develop this young team following next month’s draft. WKSU commentator Terry Pluto says all of the teams competing for an NBA title this year have done it by developing players. And that must be the Cavs new model, too.

The Cavs in the post-LeBron James era are beginning to take shape.

The team has spent the summer developing its young prospects and is keeping a key piece of the 2016 championship team; Kevin Love is now under contract for the next five years.

WKSU commentator Terry Pluto says Love has always been the talk of trade rumors, and now he’s the face of the Cavs.

Love Wants To Stay

The Cavs play game 1 of the NBA Finals Thursday night against a familiar foe – The Golden State Warriors. The two teams are playing for the title for the fourth consecutive year.

WKSU commentator Terry Pluto says this Cavs team is much different than the one that lost in the Finals last year. Most notably, the team successfully moved on from Kyrie Irving in a big trade that initially went bust.

LeBron James has had an impact on the livelihoods of both his own and opposing coaches.

A crowded court

The Cavs won their highly-anticipated season opener against Kyrie Irving and the Celtics, 102-99. Irving demanded to be traded over the summer and landed in Boston. The new-look Cavs added Derrick Rose, Jae Crowder and LeBron James' former Miami Teammate and friend, Dwyane Wade.

Add them to James and Kevin Love, and the court can feel a little crowded.

“You have so many guys who are used to shooting the ball, and you only have one ball,” said WKSU commentator Terry Pluto.

It’s a whole new look for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they begin training camp for the new season. One of the three pillars of the team, Kyrie Irving, is now a member of the Boston Celtics. But some new players bring their own talents.

Kyrie Irving is headed to Boston. The Cavs all-star guard, who asked team owner Dan Gilbert to trade him earlier this year, has been sent to the Celtics for fellow all-star Isaiah Thomas and a couple of other players. WKSU Sports Commentator Terry Pluto talked about the trade.

It’s been a tumultuous week for the Cavs. The team that was expected to spend the summer beefing up its roster for another title run is now faced with a star player who wants out and an inexperienced general manager at the helm.

WKSU commentator Terry Pluto says Kyrie Irving shocked everyone with news that he wants to be traded.
