It was on this date in 1914 that U.S. President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation of neutrality, in an attempt to stay neutral during the First World War. The U.S. would only stay neutral for another three years. And it was on this date in 1920 that Tennessee became the final state needed to ratify the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote.
