The Trail of Tears memorial monuments at the New Echota Historic Site in New Echota, Georgia. It honors the 4,000 Cherokees who died on the Trail of Tears.

It was on this date in 1809 that Boston made it illegal to wear masks at balls or gatherings in the city. And it was on this date in 1835 that the phrase "Trail of Tears" was coined. President Andrew Jackson forcibly removed members of the Cherokees from Georgia.
