The destruction of tea at Boston Harbor in 1773.

It was on this date in 1773 that the Sons of Liberty, disguised as Native Americans boarded three ships in Boston Harbor and proceeded to throw the tea overboard. The event would be remembered as the Boston Tea Party. And it was on this date in 1978 that Cleveland became the first post-Depression era city to default on its loans to local banks.
