In 1911, Calbraith Perry Rodgers became the first person to cross the United States from coast to coast by airplane. The trip took 49 days.

It was on this date in 1911, the first transcontinental flight came to an end in Pasadena, CA. And it was on this date 1940, President Franklin D. Roosevelt was reelected to an astonishing third term in office. He defeated Akronite, Wendell Willkie.
