The Cleveland Orchestra's concertmaster, William Preucil, is no longer a teacher at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Preucil resigned this weekend, two days after the Washington Post published a story detailing sexual assault allegations against him. 

Preucil tendered his resignation from the music school one day after the Cleveland Orchestra suspended him pending an investigation.

The Cleveland Orchestra is suspending its concertmaster, William Preucil, a day after the Washington Post published a story in which the renowned violinist is accused of sexually assaulting his student in 1998. 

CLEVELAND CLASSICAL GUITAR SOCIETY

A non-profit arts organization is turning inner-city Cleveland kids into classical guitarists. It's a growing outreach program started by the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society, that began working in the schools about six years ago. This past spring, they got a Cleveland Foundation grant to expand to an after-school program in the Clark Fulton neighborhood.

Composer Evan Fein studied piano with Gerardo Teissonnière at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Fein now lives in New York and teaches at the Juilliard School. But he and his former teacher share a lifelong love of Schubert’s music that recently brought them back together as collaborators.

A shared love of Schubert
Teissonnière’s relationship with Schubert’s music goes back to his student days. Even though Schubert wrote plenty of music for solo piano, Teissonnière especially fell in love with his music for voice.
