Between 1890 and 1920 most every European city and many in this country had mandolin orchestras. What's in a Mandolin Orchestra? Mandolins, Octave Mandolins, Mandocellos, Mandobasses. Today, there is only one national touring orchestra, "The Nashville Mandolin Ensemble." Aside from the marches, polkas, rags, and classical pieces, Butch Baldasarri's impressive lineup tackles bluegrass, the Allman Brothers, and even Christmas. Butch has a very droll sense of humor so you'll have two reasons to smile when you see his band.

We saw "The Nashville Mandolin Ensemble" at the 35th Kent State Folk Festival and immediately asked them to consider being on our program. They submitted a medley of "I wonder as I wander" and "Simple Gifts" from another live appearance. This is the first time anyone else has ever heard them.
