With her distinct accent and polite manner Kate Rusby easily draws you into conversation, and when she begins to sing her favorite traditional English ballads, she becomes irresistible. The BBC has chosen Kate as one of the top ten folk voices of the century, which is quite an accomplishment since she is only 26.
Rusby and fiddler/guitarist John McCusker were passing through Cleveland and stopped by the WKSU studios to record the song that she knows as "The Holly and The Ivy."
Kate was flattered to be on the same program as Tim O'Brien who she saw with the celebrated bluegrass group "Hot Rize" as they toured England when Kate was a child. Let's hope she never loses her youthful enthusiasm as hearing her helps us remember ours.
