Christmastime's A Coming - Tim O'Brien & The Crossing

Tim O'Brien went to Ireland a few years back to do a family history and returned with a whole album full of original songs called "The Crossing." A tour followed, and at the 34th Kent State Folk Festival, which was in December of 2000, the group performed Bill Monroe's legendary "Christmas Time's a Comin."

If you listen closely you'll hear Mary Chapin Carpenter and Darrel Scott harmonizing, Kevin Burke on fiddle, Cillian Vallely on pipes, Dirk Powell on banjo, and Dennis Crouch on bass.

The group chose to perform this song during their concert so it could also be on "Ornaments and Icing." Thirteen hundred people crammed in the Kent State Ballroom to hear this all star collection, and now those who were unable to get in have a chance to hear them. (...perhaps over and over - this show may repeat in your area, or listen on-line at anytime!)
