Christmas Carol - Juggernaut Jug Band

They're a silly bunch! The Amazing Mr. Fish, World Wide Web, Roscoe Goose and Big Daddy T are more entertaining than ants on a cat. This "Christmas Carol" is by Tom Lehrer, the humorous minstrel, famous for songs such as "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park," "The Masochism Tango" and "The Vatican Rag."

When we asked the Juggernauts if they would care to contribute to Ornaments, they were days away from playing the Kent State Folk Festival. They told us they had just the thing. This is what they played at the Davey School in Kent. Our producer, Joe Gunderman, did the recording.

If you listen to them carefully, though, you'll hear behind all that fun is some very serious playing. It's the same as Spike Jones' band; if you can stop laughing and think about it for a moment, you'll find yourself wondering how they do it. But as the Washington Post said about them, "they don't let virtuousity get in the way of having fun."
