The Christmas Song, by Mel Torme and Robert Wells
Livingston Taylor, lead vocal
Matt Cusson, piano and back-up vocal
Is this becoming the Ornaments traditional closing song? We've had two beautiful versions of it in two years.

Liv played a concert in Cleveland Hts. this past summer, and producer Joe Gunderman went and soaked in the wonderful fun and happy atmosphere. It was an outdoor venue, and after the show, Joe hung around to talk to Liv about being on the show. Usually such discussions take place after all the autographs have been signed, so Joe grabbed a seat on a stone wall and just waited for the right time. There were just a couple dozen folks still there when Liv came out to sign. Having no idea who Joe was or why he was there, Liv came all the way through the empty theater with a trail of fans beginning to follow behind him and plunked down right next to Joe on the wall. Well heck, that was convenient.

After the CDs were signed and the photos taken, Joe asked Liv if he wanted to do a Christmas song for NPR. He said it sounded like fun. From there on it was Maggie (wife and manager) Taylor's job to encourage Liv to get the song done. He did, creating a wonderful duet with Matt Cusson. And where else could such a classy arrangement of this "chestnut" go but at the end of the show? It fittingly wishes you and yours happy holidays from everyone who contributed to Ornaments and Icing.
