Our host Jim Blum had a fascinating interview with Leon before his concert appearance.
Jim asked, "Where do you live, Leon?"
Leon: "I don't live anywhere."
Jim: "Oh. Hmmm...How long have you been a musician?"
Leon: "Who told you I was a musician?"
Jim: "I kinda thought...Well, let me see...Do you have any favorite hobbies?"
Leon: "Cement."
Jim: "Cement?"
Leon: "Yes."
Jim: "Do you mean sculpture, or driveways?"
Leon: "Both."
They did go on to have a very nice chat, and Leon was both a gracious guest and a captivating performer at the storied old theater on Market St. He agreed to perform two or three Christmas songs during his show specifically so that we could have one for Ornaments. This is a new arrangement with clarinet and piano, but then, it's probably a new arrangement every time he plays it.
Later during the interview, Leon's eyes started to follow a big fly that was circling the room. He opined: "He's just waiting for one of us to drop."
