David is one of those warm storytellers and singers that get you involved by the way he presents his material. He's been hosting PRI's "Jazz From The Riverwalk" for years, and has several albums out, including kids records that both captivate and educate.
When David stopped in to play us a little blues for the 1999 show, he also had a story with him. HereÕs what he had to say about it. "I first heard a version of 'The Ruby' from storyteller Jim May. To me it is a story about giving. Giving is at the heart of the holidays...and the man in the story realizes that knowing how to give is a lot more important than the jewel itself." We recorded it back then, and are happy to premier it now. |
