"Can anybody here do a good cat?" Silly things do happen when it's late at night and you've been in the studio for several hours. Grace had come to WKSU to record a beautiful song for our 1999 Ornaments. But we didn't stop there. She had written this little comic ditty a few years earlier, and had this to say about it:

"In publicity for our annual Christmas fundraiser for the local soup kitchen/food pantry, the local paper referred to me as a songwriter. I write very little, in truth, but felt compelled to make good on this misprint. Some look to the muse, I looked around and saw only my cat, bird-watching. Hence out poured this yuletide feline farcical fantasy."

The original wasn't "air-quality" as we say in the business. That's why we had the opportunity to have so much fun chasing Miss Kitty around for the holidays, creating this brand new feature for Ornaments 2000. Paul and Grace arranged the music, and Joe joined them with crazy ideas. They all offered their best shots at imitating cats, dogs, and birds, and all three of them joined in for the one-line heavenly choir (Joe's idea). It all came together, and Miss Kitty? Well, she'll be kept away from the catnip for quite some time, we're afraid.
