The Bobs have been doing music acappella for a lot of years now. In fact, a quote from Robert Adels of Cash Box on their "Shut Up And Sing" CD reads, "The unclassifiable acappella antidote to modern technology." Sounds like a nice addition to Ornaments, no? We thought so. We tracked them down at a concert in Cleveland Heights, in June and talked to them about Christmas. Perhaps only musicians are receptive to talking about the holidays at the furthest point in the year from them. It's probably because so many Christmas albums are recorded in summer.
Joe "Bob" Finetti said he had a holiday song or two nearly finished which might be worth considering. Richard "Bob" Greene said they'd make some time to squeeze one of them in during their recording sessions in August. We were excited.
Little did we know that the rousing sing-a-long they'd send would be the perfect way to end the first hour of this year's program. The chorus from "Christmas Morning" is a candidate for the "sticks in your head" award from this year's Ornaments. And that's not a bad thing. |
