Ellis left behind a childhood of potatoes (a farm in Maine) and a fleet education (a track scholarship to college in Boston) to take up his real love, playing music. He played continuously at open mic nights and then to sold out clubs until he gained recognition. And that he did, winning the prestigious Kerrville "Best New Folk" Award, and the Acoustic Underground competition. Paul was the only American performer included in a BBC/PBS documentary on the "Woody Guthrie Legacy." In his most recent song writing he continues to take a hard and true look at himself. That kind of honesty is what has won him so many fans.
