Aine Minogue - The Shortest Day (poem) / Noel Nouvelle WKSU Home
Aine recorded her reading of Susan Cooper's poem in Boston. Her Noel Nouvelle is from "To Warm The Winter's Night" (Evergreen EM-014) and it certainly does.

Aine is a nuts Irish woman who keeps harping! Thank heaven for the latter, because her harp music is not nuts, it's lilting and beautiful. On the phone, she's ebullient and when you hang up you're smiling. She was born in Borrisokane, in County Tipperary, Ireland. Her large family played together and went to traditional music festivals (called fleahs). With all that music around, she learned several instruments in her youth. It was at 12 that she settled on the harp. Learning in County Galway and County Clare, she was steeped in the harp's connection to Irish history. She lives in Boston now, but has performed for Irish President Mary Robinson and numerous Prime Ministers of Ireland. She has several albums out and her recordings have appeared on Windham Hill and Celtic Heartbeat collections.
