Dee was working on another song for this show, and it didn't go the way she wanted. Oh happy circumstance, for it diverted her to this. (Hopefully she'll get the other one together later.) Michael Mainieri plays piano, and Dee sings like, well, what do angels sound like?
"I often write at the piano," Dee explains, "and then go over to the harp to see how it sounds." While she doesn't play the harp on this song, it is her chosen instrument, having been trained on it at the prestigious Eastman School of Music. She uses it the way other folk musicians use a guitar, as a completely natural accompanying instrument through many styles. Jimi Hendricks? Sure, why not. Her debut album, "Beloved One" featured Dire Straits master guitarist, Mark Knopfler. It was so well received that she began to be hired to do film scoring. Since then, her following albums showed her tremendous growth. She's shared the stage with a host of names, and credits a lot of her influence to her husband, vibist and composer Michael Mainieri. He gives her the respect and critique she needs.
