The Libertarian Party’s national convention begins today at the downtown Hyatt Regency. Sarah Matthews with the Ohio party sums up their platform this way.

“Minimum government and maximum freedom.”

Matthews says there’s a lot of overlap with the Tea Party, which has won some recent Congressional races. But Libertarians are still largely seen as politically unviable. Matthews expects about 600 delegates and 30 speakers from around the country.

“Basically we’re going to be helping how the national party is being run and governed. It’s a great opportunity to come out and see the political process at work.”

The convention runs through Sunday.
