Ohio's Gov. John Kasich says GE's decision to build its new global operations center in the Greater Cincinnati area is a game changer for Ohio.

General Electric is building a new global operations center in southwest Ohio, which will add 1,400 new jobs to the region.

“It’s going to generate a lot of revenue down there, but it’s also going to provide great opportunity across the state. And one more time, it kind of electrifies the state from the stand point of, wow, GE has five global operations and one of them in Ohio. I mean that is just a heck of a statement.”

The types of jobs that will need to be filled include financial, human resources and IT positions. GE’s Joe Allen says the number of new positions could reach as many as 2,000 when the center is fully staffed.

A specific location in the Greater Cincinnati area has not been selected. Construction is expected to begin this summer.
