Economy and Business Friday, February 15, 2013 Analyst: Northeast Ohio airports will benefit from airline merger Analyst: Cleveland Hopkins and Akron-Canton could see growth from American-USAir merger Story by AKILAH PORTER |

 | | Akron-Canton airport |
In The Region: The merger of American Airlines and USAir could benefit both Cleveland Hopkins and Akron-Canton airports.
Airline Analyst Bob Herbst says the merger is different from others because there aren't any competing routes between the two airlines. Herbst also says that flyers can expect stability in airfares prices and better customer service. |
“It will give the new merged American and US Airways a leverage to be very competitive with United and Delta and that type of competitiveness will be able to hold airfare prices down and improve service. You’ll see some better customer service from all of the industry because of this.”
Herbst predicts there will be growth at both facilities due to the merger. Currently, American flies to Cleveland Hopkins, but US Airways serves both airports. |
