In The Region:

Gov. John Kasich has signed a bill into law that sets up an A through F grading system for the state’s school districts. He says the new system will be a better way to measure success.

“There are very few states that have this A through F clarity and we have found those who do, do better because it allows teachers, superintendents, school board members to know how the school is doing and it allow parents to know how schools are performing.”

Kasich says he will be coming out with a comprehensive education plan in the next couple of weeks that will include this new grading process. He says his upcoming budget will, to an extent, give schools the power to determine their own programs.

The governor’s budget is due to the legislature on February 4th and he wants to get his education plan out there in advance of that deadline.
