Health and Medicine Wednesday, January 9, 2013 Kasich pushes for autism coverage Small business group say measure is counter-productive by WKSU's STATEHOUSE CORRESPONDENT BILL COHEN |
 Reporter Bill Cohen | | |
In The Region: For 6 years, Ohio legislators have debated but never approved a bill that would require insurance companies to pay for autism treatment for children. Now, Governor John Kasich has stepped in. He’s filed paperwork with the federal government that will basically mean that Ohio insurers will have to cover autism just as they do other mental health issues. At a ceremony in Columbus today, Kasich’s move was lauded by nearly a hundred legislators, parents, and activists. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen files this report. |
