Government Tuesday, January 8, 2013 Who will be running for governor in 2014? A few politicians are considered possible candidates for the job by WKSU's STATEHOUSE CORRESPONDENT JO INGLES |
 Reporter Jo Ingles | | |
| Now that Former Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland has announced he won’t run again for governor in 2014, the question turns to who the party will find to take on current Republican Gov. John Kasich. Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles reports on some of the possible contenders. |
Democratic Cuyahoga County Executive Ed Fitzgerald is widely mentioned as a possible candidate for Governor in 2014….a move he says he’s considering.
“There’s a lot involved in running statewide under any circumstances so to run against an incumbent Governor is always a challenge so I think there is a lot of work entailed so I think I need to make a decision fairly soon because it would be a big undertaking.”
Democratic congressman Tim Ryan of Northeast Ohio is not talking about his possible future plans but put out a written statement thanking Governor Strickland for his service. As far as former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray, he says he’s in a federal law enforcement regulatory position now so he cannot comment on speculate on politics. |
