In The Region: Remember how five major mortgage lenders were accused of not playing by the rules, and then settled complaints against them by agreeing to offer millions of dollars in concessions?
Well, there's word that thousands of Ohio home-owners are taking advantage of those offers.
Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen has the latest. |
(sound) DeWine says that home-owners who recieved a letter from mortgage servicers can get information and help on refinancing concessions from his office.
That’s Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine. He says some home-owners are skeptical when they receive offers from the mortgage servicers to negotiate more favorable terms on their loans.
The A.G. says his office is glad to help the homeowners figure out if the offers are legitimate or a scam.
The five companies that agreed to settle complaints against them are Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase, Citi, Bank of America, and Ally. |
