Mike Dawson worked with Gov. and Sen. George Voinovich, one of the most successful Republicans candidates to run statewide. He’s waiting to see the early voting results, expected around 8:30 tonight.
“The evidence today suggests that the early vote was down in the counties won by Obama and up in the counties won by McCain. That doesn’t mean that they were Democrat votes or Republican votes.”

Dawson says it feels more like 2004 than 2008 to him. Greg Haas, the Franklin County Democratic Party chair who helped run President Clinton’s win in Ohio in 1992, agrees.
“This is a lot more like 2004, and the incumbent president is Barack Obama. And his team has had four years, just like the George W. Bush campaign had four years against four months.”

Dawson thinks the race will be close enough to be decided by the hundreds of thousands of provisional ballots that will be counted on November 17. Haas says he hopes Dawson is wrong.

The Ohio Channel will have the rest of Karen's interview at 8pm tonight. It's part of the Ohio Channel's election coverage tonight starting at 7pm tonight online at ohiochannel.org. Or check your local cable listings.
