Politics Friday, November 2, 2012 Presidential candidates campaign in southwest Ohio Both candidates are working toward a high turnout around the state Story by EMILY MCCORD |
| | |
| Ohio has been the state to watch for the Presidential election and both candidates have been focusing heavily on southwest Ohio in recent days. Emily McCord reports from member station WYSO that the President Obama and his challenger Mitt Romney are trying to rally their bases. |
Obama held a campaign rally in Springfield earlier today. Just about 60 miles separates that event from the mega rally being held tonight in West Chester, where Romney will be joined by GOP surrogates, ranging from Senator Marco Rubio to Former secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Wittenberg Political Science professor Rob Baker says part of the reason that both candidates are stumping heavily here I that southwest Ohio has become increasingly competitive.
Ohio is really going to come down to turnout and southwest Ohio is pretty critical. It’s not surprising that here at the end they’re making a final push to energize their base and this rally in West Chester with Kid Rock and all these other high profile surrogates is indicative of how important they see it.
Obama will also be maintaining a presence in southwest Ohio over the weekend. He’ll be in Cincinnati on Sunday and joined by Steve Wonder. His song signed sealed delivered has been a fixture in the President’s campaign. |
