Education Wednesday, October 31, 2012 Hiram college freezes tuition for students next year Hiram spokesmans says it was the moral decision to make. by WKSU's SIMON HUSTED | Reporter Simon Husted | | |
In The Region: With student debt climbing, one private college in Northeast Ohio is lifting the burden for all of its students.
Hiram College announced Wednesday it will be freezing tuition for next year’s incoming freshmen class at $29,065.
Tom Ford, spokesman for the private college in Portage County, says the college and its trustees made the decision because it was the moral thing to do. |
“We just feel that now is a good time to do this,” Ford says. “It is a way for us to perhaps get some students in who were not able to before.”
Ford says the college of more than 1,300 students increased tuition slightly this year. But next year’s class won’t need to worry about that because Hiram’s Tuition Guarantee program protects students from yearly tuition hikes after their first year. |
