In The Region: The number of Ohioans with a rare form of fungal meningitis has grown from 1 to 3. And health officials are linking the outbreak to that injectable anti-pain medicine from Massachusetts. Four Ohio clinics had used the steroid injections that are suspected of being contaminated with a fungus. 422 Ohio patients total were treated that way…and now officials are waiting to see how many become infected.
Dr. Ted Wymslow is head of the Ohio Department of Health. In an interview with Ohio Public Radio’s Bill Cohen, Wymslow hints that the number of Ohio meningitis cases could grow higher. |
