Ohio Monday, October 1, 2012 Ohio casinos and slots create more gambling addicts Addiction officials have complied statistics measuring how many Ohians will become problem gamblers. by WKSU's STATEHOUSE CORRESPONDENT BILL COHEN |
 Reporter Bill Cohen | | |
In The Region: Programs that treat Ohio gambling addicts are bracing for an increase in clients. That’s because Ohio’s seven race tracks are in line to install thousands of electronic slot machines— two full-scale gambling casinos have already opened and two more are being constructed.
To gauge what impact the new gambling venues have, addiction treatment officials have just completed a statewide survey to see how bad the problem is now, so they can compare it with future survey results.
Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen begins his report with a man who personifies the problem. |
