Cleveland Indians' team manager fired after disappointing season
Bench Coach Sandy Alomar Jr. will be acting as interim manager
by WKSU's OZIE IKUENOBE

The Cleveland Indians fired team manager Manny Acta today.

Executive Vice President Chris Antonetti said in a press conference that the change was necessary because of expectations that weren’t reached during the season.

“We’re disappointed that we were not able to win more consistently under Manny’s leadership, but we believe a new approach at this point will give us the best chance to have success moving forward.”

Bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. has been named interim manager for the last six games of the season. Antonetti says that the search for a new team manager could start as early as tomorrow.

Listener Comments:

Manny Acta is only the sacrificial lamb. The Dolan family should sell the team to someone who cares enough about Indians baseball and Cleveland to spend money to get and keep quality players. The promotions will not get people in the seats - a winning team is wht is needed.
