Thursday, August 16, 2012 Ryan attacks President on trade, stimulus, Medicare GOP Vice Presidential candidate stops in Stark County in full attack mode Story by M.L. SCHULTZE AND TIM RUDELL This story is part of a special series.

In The Region: Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan hit President Obama especially hard on Chinese trade in his visit to Stark County today. But Mitt Romney’s running mate had plenty of other criticisms of the president.
In his speech at Walsh University in North Canton, Ryan accused Mr. Obama of raiding Medicare, overspending and dragging down job growth. |
“What we are going to offer are solutions. The Romney/Ryan plan for a stronger middle class is a plan designed to get growth and opportunity turned back on in America. It’s a plan to create 12 million jobs in the next four years. That in Ohio means 452,000 jobs if we get this economy growing like it should and we can get this economy growing like it should at 4 percent.”
Some 24-hundred people came to hear Ryan speak.
Ryan and his fellow Republican CongressmanJim Renacci condemned the Obama stimulus package, though businesses throughout Northeast Ohio have benefitted from it as well as the auto bailout and tax incentives.
Democrats note that Mr. Obama has filed trade complaints against China on auto imports, steel tubing and rare earth minerals. And a group of protesters outside this morning’s speech also accused Ryan of attacking the middle class, especially with his plan to largely supplant Medicare with a voucher program.
