In The Region: First Lady Michelle Obama was in Columbus and Dayton today, on the same day that some key Republican women launched a campaign to support Mitt Romney. Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles reports.
|
About 2000 people gathered at a suburban Columbus high school where Michelle Obama told the crowd they need to get involved and work hard to re-elect her husband. She said he has made changes that provide more hope for women and families.
“The election is a choice about supporting women and families in this country. So be sure to tell people that Barack believes women should be able to make our own choices about our health care. Remind them that today it is now easier for women to get equal pay for equal work.”
A couple of hours later, four key Republican women launched a group called Women for Mitt. Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor said women have good reason to vote for Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
“Getting rid of burdensome regulations, looking at our tax code, making it easier for small businesses to create jobs….those are the issues women care about.”
The latest polls show Romney has a lead with men in Ohio and Obama is leading with women. |
