Economy and Business Monday, July 16, 2012 Chesapeake's shale play means new business for Louisville Gas driller is building new headquarters in Stark County by WKSU's MARK URYCKI |
 Senior Reporter Mark Urycki | | |
In The Region: A small city in Northeastern Ohio is getting a big boost from the oil and gas boon in Ohio.
The most active driller in the state, Chesapeake Energy, will build its Utica shale field office on 290 acres of industrial park land in Louisville (Lewis-ville) in eastern Stark County.
City Manager Tom Ault says the company will consolidate employees that are already in the region but he still expects some spinoff jobs for Louisville.
|
“It’s going to affect may sectors. Even locally some of the … fabrication businesses have seen things start to pick up, things that they do that are related, parts that the oil and gas company would need. So there’s going to be, I believe, quite a bit of spin from these dollars.”
Chesapeake will get a 25 percent tax reduction on its payroll taxes over 10 years.
