Ohio Tuesday, July 3, 2012 Kasich praises Obama's handling Ohio emergency requests The governor thanked the President and AEP crews
by WKSU's STATEHOUSE BUREAU CHIEF KAREN KASLER |
 Reporter Karen Kasler | | |
In The Region: Gov. John Kasich praised utility workers for their progress in bringing hundreds of thousands of Ohioans without power back on line. He met with a few AEP crews in northeast Columbus to thank them for their work. And he also had praise for President Obama in how he handled Ohio’s request for emergency money after the weekend’s storms. |
“I called him and within two hours, they really delivered a lot. I was very pleased with the response. The fact that I know him well enough to be able to say, look, we’re not crying wolf here, this is a really serious problem…and then FEMA came in very quickly, which was really good. It was good, quick response in a very difficult situation.”
Kasich also says he will soon decide if the 200 Ohio National Guard members who were called to active duty will stand down, but if they do, the governor says they could still be called back if needed. The soldiers and airmen checked on people in Franklin and Montgomery counties. |
