Economy and Business Friday, June 22, 2012 General Motors recalling its line of Chevrolet Cruzes The recall is being done as a precaution to prevent engine fires Story by OZIE IKUENOBE |
| | |
 | | Lordstown first started making the Cruze in 2010 | General Motors is recalling more than 400,000 Chevrolet Cruzes to prevent engine compartment fires. The company says the recall covers all Cruzes that have been sold in the U.S. from the time Lordstown started making the car in September 2010.
Jessica Caldwell, a senior analyst at Edmunds.com, says the recall is more of a precaution. |
“Every auto company, from luxury to mainstream, if they have any sort of problem that they see, they tend to recall. I mean, the thing that consumers want to see is car companies being proactive so they’re never at a point in which they feel that they’re in danger, because the car companies are proactively recalling, making sure vehicles are safe before something happens.”
Caldwell says that investigations into problems with vehicles usually take a few months to make sure they aren’t isolated and to also come up with a fix.
The compact Cruze has led the resurgence of GM and of the auto industry in Ohio. |
