Monday, June 4, 2012 Kent State Flashes bring home NCAA regional title The baseball team won its first title against Kentucky, 3-2 Story by KELLI FITZPATRICK
The Kent State University baseball team brought home its first NCAA regional title this weekend riding a 20-game winning streak.
The number-three seeded Flashes beat Kentucky 3-2 for the regional title Sunday after playing the same team in a nearly seven-hour game on Friday. Kent also beat number-one seeded Purdue on Saturday.
Family and friends welcomed the team home at Dix Stadium Monday. Coach Scott Stricklin says he and his players were thrilled at the University's first.
“It’s great. A great welcome home, a lot of fans out here, and my family. It just means a lot to all of us. Our players are excited to be back for sure and to bring home a championship. It feels really good.”
The Flashes will play the Oregon Ducks in the Super Regional this weekend.
