Kent State regional champion baseball team returns to Dix Stadium tonight.
    Fourth Medina County teen dies
A fourth Brunswick teenager has died following a weekend crash in which a car went airborn over a railroad crossing. Eighteen-year-old Kevin Fox was pronounced dead this morning at MetroHealth Medical Center. The highway patrol says he was thrown from the car into a ditch. The crash also killed the driver, 18-year-old Jeffrey Chaya, 17-year-old Blake Bartchak, and 16-year-old Lexi Poerner. Another passenger remains hospitalized.

    Bedbugs unphased by foggers
A new study by Ohio State University says over-the-counter foggers do little to kill bedbugs.

The study in the June issue of the Journal of Economic Entomology confirms what researcher Susan Jones says many in the industry suspected: That the bug bombs might even make infestations worse.

Bedbugs have increased by as much as 500 percent in North America over the last decade – blamed on everything from more international travel to bugs that are more resistant to pesticides.

The researchers experimented with three brands  of foggers in a vacant office building at  Ohio State that they infested with five bedbug populations collected from homes in Columbus. They also threw in the Harlan strain -- which has been raised in  laboratories  since 1973.

The researchers plan to submit the data to the EPA.

Akron man charged in Florida land deal
An Akron man has been charged with bank fraud and conspiracy in a $36 million mortgage case in Florida. Jack Coppenger Jr. is accused of luring dozens of Ohio residents to invest in Florida properties, promising them up-front payments and 50 percent of the profits. The U.S. Attorney’s office says he used inflated appraisals and the investors good credit  scores to get loans for the project, which has largely failed.

Lawmakers still haven't resolved drop-out school standards

One of the issues lawmakers are expected to take up when they get back to Columbus next week is what to do about the state’s dropout-recovery schools.

Some 18,000 students attend the special charter schools, which are exempt from being automatically shut down because of a history of poor performance.  Gov. John Kasich wants to set up new standards for the schools, but House Republicans have so far refused to include them in the automatic-closure rule that covers other charter schools.

When they return June 12, they’re expected to work on a compromise with a Senate version of an education bill that includes tougher standards for the dropout schools.

    Forbes boosts Goodyear's reputation
Forbes has moved Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company up on its list of America’s most reputable companies. The company is ranked 26th, up from 38th last year. It is the highest-ranking company on the list in the auto industry.

The list is compiled by the Reputation Institute and measures the trust, esteem, admiration and good feelings of  more than 10,000 consumers.

Fans will greet Kent State's baseball champions
Kent State's baseball team will be greeted by fans at Dix stadium at 4 this afternoon, having won the regional championships for the first time in the university’s history.

The Flashes were underdogs in the regionals, in which they beat No. 1 seed Purdue, and Kentucky twice.

Their regional win sends them onto the super regionals – a double elimination tournament. The winner will go onto the College World Series.
