Andrew Thomas is Executive in Residence for the Energy Policy Center of Cleveland State University's The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs
Andrew Thomas, an executive-in-residence at the energy policy center at Cleveland State University, says the recent boom of gas found in shale worries people who are concerned with finding cheaper and more environmentally-friendly energy sources.

"A lot of the angst from environmentalists has to do with their fear that we are just gonna forget about renewable energy because of all this surplus of gas we suddenly have."

Some government interest is also rooted in combining conventional energy with sustainable energy methods, which Thomas says could be done if there is a way to make it economical. The ideal outcome would be for both of them to be combined without any loss of interest in sustainable energy.
