Ohio Thursday, April 19, 2012 Romney tells Ohio supporters Mr. Obama is a blamer Democrats respond that Romney is blaming the president for failures from the Bush administration by WKSU's KEVIN NIEDERMIER |
 Reporter Kevin Niedermier | | |
 | | Former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney hit Northeast Ohio less than 24 hours after President Obama left. |
In The Region: Just 24 hours after President Obama traveled to Lorain County to talk about jobs, his likely Republican challenger did the same thing.
While Mr. Obama chose a job-training program as his backdrop, Mitt Romney picked the National Gypsum plant that then-candidate Obama visited in early 2008. A few months after that, the plant closed. And while that happened on President Bush’s watch, Romney says President Obama needs to take responsibility for what’s happened since. |
“One of the things I find most disappointing in this president is his divisiveness. His lack of willingness to take responsibility himself for his own failures. He laid out what the standards of success would be and he has failed to meet them.”
Democrats, including Lorain City Council President Joel Arredondo, said Romney is trying to saddle the president with a previous administration’s failures. And in a speech before Romney arrived, he asked if the Republicans next planned to blame Mr. Obama for the sinking of the Titanic.
Though he did not attend Romney’s 20-minute speech, Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich formally endorsed Romney today.
