“We were hoping to celebrate that in I think in either the first or second week of August, and hopefully we can still do that. We won’t have his presence, which is very sad. But we certainly will recognize his passing hereat the museum in fashion in the next day or so.” 

He continued to be known as “America’s oldest teenager,” and as the man who played a big role in taking the American record business international.  Artists ranging from Chubby Checker to Bobby Rydell got their start on American Bandstand.
