Arts and Entertainment Friday, April 13, 2012 Rod Stewart to miss Rock Hall induction Faces frontman's doctors won't let him fly with strep throat by WKSU's KABIR BHATIA |
 Reporter Kabir Bhatia | | |
In The Region: The Faces frontman's doctors won't let him fly with strep throat. Billboard reports that the remaining members -- Ron Wood, drummer Kenney Jones and keyboardist Ian McLagan -- broke the news while presenting a copy of the book "Faces 1969-75," to the Rock Hall's Library and Archives.
Occasional Faces collaborator Mick Hucknall, lead singer of Simply Red, will take Stewart's place on vocals at Saturday's induction. In 1994, Stewart missed his own Rock Hall induction, as solo artist, due to an earthquake in Los Angeles.
The Faces were formed when Stewart and Wood joined the remaining Small Faces (Jones, McLagan and Ronnie Lane) in 1969 after the departure of Small Faces vocalist Steve Marriott. Lane and Marriot, both deceased, will also be inducted on Saturday. |
