Arts and Entertainment Thursday, April 12, 2012 Axl Rose tells Cleveland Rock Hall "no thanks" Lead singer of rock band Guns 'N Roses declines Rock Hall ceremony and induction by WKSU's KABIR BHATIA |
 Reporter Kabir Bhatia | | |
| The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame can remove one place setting from this Saturday' induction.
Axl Rose, controversial lead singer of the 1980s heavy metal group Guns 'n Roses, posted a letter on Facebook yesterday saying he would not attend the ceremony in Cleveland, and would also decline his induction.
The band has been estranged for the past two decades, making no new music until Rose and a new backing group released “Chinese Democracy” in 2009.
But the Rock Hall is inducting only the original late 80s/early 90s lineup, most of whom are expected to attend, including Cleveland-born drummer Steven Alder. Adler told WKSU last week he was still hopeful the band would reunite for the induction. |
“My part of the legacy, I’m very passionate about. And I love and am very proud of those four knuckleheads. I would just like to finish what I started with those guys. And that would be a great finish."
Past inductees such as Paul McCartney have declined to attend the ceremony over band politics, but to date only the Sex Pistols have refused the actual induction. |
